Maureen Hart is the primary staff of Sustainable Measures. We partner with a number of other organizations on a regular basis depending on the needs of specific projects, including the Green Mountain Institute for Environmental Democracy and the Lowell Center for Sustainable Production.

Maureen Hart is an internationally known expert on sustainability indicators and the author of the Guide to Sustainable Community Indicators, which is being used by many communities and organizations working on understanding and measuring progress toward sustainability. Ms. Hart has developed and presented training courses and workshops on sustainability and indicators both nationally and internationally.
Ms. Hart has provided technical assistance to community indicator projects, evaluated indicators and indicator sets, and conducted research on measuring sustainability. She has consulted with businesses and business-related non-profits on sustainable production indicators and is an affiliate of the Lowell Center for Sustainable Production at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. She has consulted with foundations and other grant-making organizations on defining strategies and evaluating funding decisions for projects related to sustainable development.
Ms. Hart has an MS in Hazardous Materials Management from the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Tufts University and a BS in Interdisciplenary Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. While completing her studies, Ms. Hart received both a Switzer Fellowship and a National Network of Environmental Management Studies (NNEMS) Fellowship.
