Very often, what we measure is what we pay attention to. When a measurement
tells us something is broken, we make sure it gets fixed.
However, because we have traditionally viewed our communities as
isolated categories of economy, environment and society, we have measures
of progress in these different areas that often work at cross
purposes. We need to start taking a hard look at our traditional
measures and find new ways to measure where we want to go.
